Fanboys to Test Screen Different Versions of the Film?

According Ain't It Cool News, Fanboys might be undergoing some serious changes.

The site states that on Tuesday and Wednesday in Burbank, two versions of the film will be screened and the audience decide which will prevail.

The film has been turned over to Judd Apatow's camp and, apparently, they've been doing reshoots for the past few weeks and one of the big things they're changing is the main plot point.

Originally, the film was to be about a group of kids who travel to Skywalker Ranch to steal a copy of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace before it was released in theaters. They did this so their friend who was dying of cancer could see it, since he wouldn't live to see it in the theaters. Now it seems that the entire cancer sub-plot has been axed - according to Harry at AICN, by Harvey Weinstein, not Apatow himself.

None of this has been confirmed as of yet, and we'll keep you posted if more updates surface.

Fanboys was released February 6th, 2009 and stars Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell, David Denman, Christopher McDonald, Charlie B. Brown. The film is directed by Kyle Newman.

Not again! I've been wanting to check this movie out for like forever!
    What the hell, man!

Why gotta axe the cancer sub-plot... that part could give this comedy movie some heart.

After all, they've gotta have a solid reason to go that extra mile for a friend.
