Extras Injured on the Set of Bryan Singer's Valkyrie
The accident happened to the second unit, without Cruise or Singer in attendance. The extras fell off the truck when a side panel burst open as the truck they were in took a corner. They were all rushed to the hospital, and only one of them had to stay over night for observations.
Filming was halted after the incident, but it should have no impact on the film's production schedule. The truck was going less than ten miles per hour, and the injured background artists only acquired minor bruises and scratches.
Police have begun an investigation into the accident, which is standard procedure for any occupational accident that happens in Germany.
Valkyrie was released December 25th, 2008 and stars Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Thomas Kretschmann, Terence Stamp, Eddie Izzard. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.
