EXCLUSIVE: Wes Bentley on The Evil Dead Remake!

While doing press for the upcoming holiday thriller P2, Wes Bentley was posed with the question, "Would you play Ash in a remake of The Evil Dead?" Why was he asked this? Because, as we all know, director Sam Raimi has long considered producing a remake of his seminal horror classic. Yet, the fans don't think Bruce Campbell can be replaced. I was in the same camp until I saw Bentley's deliciously creepy portrayal of a lonesome parking garage attendant in P2. For the entire duration of the film, all I could think about was, "This guy would make the best Ash ever. He is the only guy that can star in the remake and do justice to it."

Bentley is completely open to the idea, and says that he even studied Bruce Campbell's signature body movements and physical acting methods at Julliard. For a his complete response, check out the video interview below...


P2 opens in theaters this Friday, November 9th, 2007.

The Evil Dead comes to theaters April 12th, 2013 and stars Shiloh Fernandez, Jane Levy. The film is directed by Federico Alvarez.

    I myself am a die hard Evil Dead fan and i can understand why everyone's so pissed. I know the best Ash is Bruce and is not replaceable. Without him it would suck. But come on. its Evil Dead! I'm real excited to see what happens with this, even if it does turn into a suck fest.

    Yea, why do we have to constantly re-invision every story ever written by man? Not another Romeo and Juliet, not another Bible story. Not another dracula or frankenstein or jack the ripper. I think its called re-inscribe the same character. Are there no more "new" characters left? No "new" stories? Are we trying to tap into a market that's already interested, who want an updated story? Is not all stories and films pretty much the same anyway? Isn't every superhero the same? How many Superman movies are there anyway? Why did we need 4 generations of James Bonds? Do we really need more male heroes in a world that is deeply misguided by males in general?

    What the f*ck..another Re-make of a cult classic..has Hollywood lost there mind and ran out of ideas??? This would be so awfull!!! Bruce Campbell is the God of cult actors. I hope he would put a stop to it!! If Sam Raimi even considered this idea of a re-make he should have his SAG card taken from him. What has Sam Raimi gone so Hollywood that he would do anything to make a fast cheap buck!?! Sorry Bruce Campbell but you sound U need to sell out to make a buck just to re-make a film that made U a star and a cult classic icon! I agree W./Clark Parker, Wes Bentley is not a great actor, the only film that ever comes to mind when I hear his name is "American Beauty". Did he really do other films after that?? Oh Yeah...he was also in "The Claim" & "The Four Feathers" which both those of films sucked really really bad!!

    Bruce Campbell is Ash...Sh*t Gerard Butler quit Escape from New York because kurt russell is snake plisken. get some new ideas hollywood! i have to admit the effects both visual and makeup would be a hell of a lot better than the original evil dead. that movie is great just the way it is though. that chick sitting on the floor in the doorway with the white eyes and the little girl's laugh FN scares the S... out of me to this day.

    have you all lost your minds? out of all the crap remakes that hollywood is throwing out there today, for me this would be just about the lowest they can go. the original Evil Dead is PERFECT, there is absolutley no reason to remake it, it will only dissapoint imo. I hope Raimi reconsiders this movie, and that Bruce does something stop this nonsense. I for one will refuse to see this movie if it does come out.
