EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Where the Wild Things Are Cast Featurette

In an effort that was almost ten years in the making Spike Jonze's vision of Maurice Sendak's cherished Children's book, Where the Wild Things Are is finally coming to the big screen. Several generations of children grew up on the popular book and have been awaiting the film adaptation for many years, however adapting a ten-sentence book into a full-length feature film is not that easy. It would take the talents of critically acclaimed director Spike Jonze, writer Dave Eggers, an extremely talented cast of actors and Jim Henson's Creature Shop to make Where the Wild Things Are, opening on October 16th, a reality. We had the opportunity to speak with members of the cast, Max Records, Catherine Keener, Forrest Whitaker, Catherine O'Hara and Lauren Ambrose about this brilliant and exciting new film. Maurice Sendak's classic book comes to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation. Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventure of Max (Max Records), a mischievous young boy who runs away after rebelling against his mother (Catherine Keener). Max's imagination is free to roam, and it soon transports him to a wooded area bordering a dark sea where he finds a small boat. Delighted, he sets sail for the island of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns and Max rules. He soon meets some fantastical creatures that crown him king but Max must teach them about friendship and understanding before they destroy the world around them and realize that he is not their real leader. Also starring James Gandolfini, Chris Cooper, Mark Ruffalo and Paul Dano and directed by Spike Jonze, Where the Wild Things Are opens in theaters everywhere on October 16th.

Where the Wild Things Are was released October 16th, 2009 and stars Max Records, Pepita Emmerichs, Max Pfeifer, Madeleine Greaves, Joshua Jay, Ryan Corr, Catherine Keener, Steve Mouzakis. The film is directed by Spike Jonze.
