EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: The Writer and Director of The Orphanage Speak!

Hot on the heels of the success of last year's Pan's Labyrinth, we have been eager to dig into the strange mystifying tale known as The Orphanage (El Orfanato), which producer Guillermo del Toro has been so passionate about bringing to the United States. We recently got a chance to sit down with director Juan Antonio Bayona and writer Sergio G. Sanchez to talk about the Spanish language horror flick. Take a look...

The Orphanage centers on a Laura (Bel&#233n Rueda from The Sea Inside) who purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children. Once there, Laura discovers that the new environment awakens her son's imagination, but the ongoing fantasy games he plays with an invisible friend quickly turn into something more disturbing. Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place.

The Orphanage hits limited theaters on December 28th.

The Orphanage was released December 28th, 2007 and stars Belén Rueda, Fernando Cayo, Roger Príncep, Mabel Rivera, Montserrat Carulla, Andrés Gertrúdix, Edgar Vivar, Óscar Casas. The film is directed by Juan Antonio Bayona.

Hi, I'm from Spain, and this is the best film i've seen this year.
You have to see it. And... if you can ... don't scream.
Hopefully, the next foreign film Oscar winner.

This looks creepy and with Guillermo del Toro on the project, it seems very good.
