The beloved actress and her cast give us a behind-the-scenes look at their new film based on the true-life story.
Director John Lee Hancock is an expert at bringing true stories to the big screen and has a special knack for adapting the real-life tales of professional athletes. With the exception of his film The Alamo, both of Hancock's other two feature films, The Rookie based on High School coach turned Major League Baseball pitcher Jim Morris and now The Blind Side, opening on November 20th, are based on real-life inspirational sports figures. The latter is the true story of NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher, his troubled childhood, his hard journey to the NFL and the one family that adopted him, and in doing so saved him and gave him hope. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw star as Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, the upper class Tennessee family that adopted the future NFL player and newcomer Quinton Aaron gives a career making performance as Michael Oher. In football, as in life, the value we place on people changes with the rules of the games they play. The young man at the center of this extraordinary and moving story, Michael Oher, will one day be among the most highly paid athletes in the NFL. When we first meet him, he is one of thirteen children by a mother addicted to crack; he does not know his real name, his father, his birthday, or any of the things a child might learn in school-such as, say, how to read or write. Nor has he ever touched a football. What changes? He takes up football, and school, after a rich, Evangelical, Republican family plucks him from the mean streets. Their love is the first great force that alters the world's perception of the boy, whom they adopt. The second force is the evolution of NFL itself into a game where the quarterback must be protected at any cost. Our protagonist turns out to be the priceless combination of size, speed, and agility necessary to guard the quarterback's greatest vulnerability: his blind side. Also starring Kathy Bates and featuring appearances by real NCAA coaches Phillip Fulmer, Nick Saban, Lou Holtz and Tommy Tuberville and directed by John Lee Hancock. Based on the book by Michael Lewis, The Blind Side opens in theaters on November 20th

The Blind Side was released November 20th, 2009 and stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Lily Collins, Ray McKinnon, Kim Dickens, Adriane Lenox. The film is directed by John Lee Hancock.
