Michael Sheen has quickly become the go-to actor for portraying real-life British celebrities on film. American audiences first took notice of his work while playing British Prime-Minister Tony Blair in The Queen, and last year he went toe-to-toe with Academy Award Nominee Frank Langella's Richard Nixon as TV personality David Frost in Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon. Now the actor can be seen in a new role as controversial British Football Manager Brian Clough in The Damned United, which opens in limited release on October 9th. Exclusive: Michael Sheen Interview

Set in 1960's and 1970's England, The Damned United tells the confrontational and darkly humorous story of Brian Clough's doomed 44 days of tenure as manager of the reigning champions of English football, Leeds United. Clough's obsession with a rivalry between himself and Leeds former Manager, Don Revie (Colm Meaney), motivates Clough to take his archenemy's former job in an attempt at revenge but the result is an historic sports debacle that could spell the end for Clough's otherwise illustrious career. Also starring Timothy Sprall, Colm Meaney and Jim Broadbent and directed by Tom Hooper, The Damned United opens on October 9th in limited release.

The Damned United was released October 9th, 2009 and stars Colm Meaney, Henry Goodman, David Roper, Jimmy Reddington, Oliver Stokes, Ryan Day, Michael Sheen, Mark Bazeley. The film is directed by Tom Hooper.
