Don't forget that ticket prices back then were considerably cheaper than they are now, so beating "Titanic" theoretically wouldn't be as hard. You'd only truly beat it, that if after passing it in #s, that you'd pass it in # of times viewed per fan.

And sure, a few bucks extra on a ticket isn't that big a difference, but it adds up fast! Considering how well "Titanic" did vs. "Lord Of The Rings" vs. "Revenge Of The Sith." (highest grossing SW flick).

Beating Titanic is the goal of every great film that comes to the screen. No one has done it yet but some have come close (of course when I say close I mean like $130-$150 million away). Look I would really love to see this film take out Titanic with one quick punch but it's going to take all of the fans and people to go see this movie enough to do that. I do think this film could be the one though, because if the reviews for this film are true than we'll be in for one wild ride to see if this is the film that take down Titanic and claim the #1 spot. I honestly hope it does really well, because if it does than Christopher Nolan and the rest of the cast will most likely come back for a 3rd and possibly even a fourth.

Depending on when this interview was conducted in comparison to the Riddler story, then it's too bad that Paul Christensen didn't ask Nolan to verify Gary Oldman's statement about Riddler being in Batman 3. Or at least to explain why he made such a claim.
