Now, the acclaimed actress is back again with a gritty, realistic and heart-shattering performance in Guillermo Arriaga's directorial debut, "The Burning Plain. I had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Charlize Theron about her powerful new performance in the film, which opens on September 18th.

Guillermo Arriaga makes his directorial debut with The Burning Plain, a film about regret and crippling loss. Charlize Theron plays Sylvia, a woman on the verge of suicide, dealing with the mistakes of her past. When Carlos (Jose Maria Yazpik), a man with connections to a life she left long ago contacts Sylvia with shocking news, she is forced to come to terms with a life that she has been running from for decades. Also starring Kim Basinger, Joaquim de Almedia, John Corbett, Robin Tunney and Rachel Ticotin. The Burning Plain opens in limited release on September 18th.

The Burning Plain was released September 18th, 2009 and stars Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger, Jennifer Lawrence, José María Yazpik, Joaquim de Almeida, Tessa Ia, Diego J. Torres, J.D. Pardo. The film is directed by Guillermo Arriaga.
