EXCLUSIVE: The Lost Boys: The Tribe Soundtrack Hits Hard!

The original 1987 soundtrack to the film The Lost Boys has become a piece of 80s pop culture history, and it ushered in a new wave of rocking soundtracks that turned movie music into a genre and marketing niche all it's own. It is right up there with the soundtracks to Footloose, Top Gun, and Dirty Dancing. While it featured new wave bands of the era such as Echo and the Bunny Men and INXS, its centerpiece was, of course, The Lost Boys theme Cry Little Sister by Gerard McMann.

Lost Boys 2 Soundtrack
Now, more than twenty years later, Warner Brothers is set to release the first ever sequel to The Lost Boys, entitled The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. And it's soundtrack looks almost as iconic as the original. Seattle rockers Aiden have recorded a cover of McMann's Cry Little Sister, which keeps to the original's dark mood yet has a faster, more up-tempo beat to it. Aiden are currently in Los Angeles shooting a video for the song, which will appear on the The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe DVD and Blu-ray when it is released on July 29th of this year.

yeah, it's nice to see Blind Melon pop up. A great band with a short run unfortunately due to Shannon Hoon's death. He had such a great voice, very distinct. Naturally looking forward to the new take on Cry little Sister... but I don't think anything will be able to override my emotional connection with the original.

Not a soundtrack i'd go out to buy... but i'm looking foward to that Aiden cover of cry little sister... they've done some great covers in their history. Im a fan of the original soundtrack... but the sequel is on the right path... it wont snatch best horror of the year (well it might this year)... but it is definitely going to be one of the best. Suprisingly Blind Melon, The hold steady and seether are the other suprises on the album.
