Okay, what's going on with The Goonies 2? Will you do it?
Sean Astin: You know I've been saying the same thing, of course I'd do it if it was right, if the character was good, if the story was right or whatever. I'm totally up for it. It's more than a lock that it'll get done. Who knows when? There's an animated thing that I've been hearing a lot about. I would think that based on how much they're promoting the DVD, not just promoting it but by how many DVDs they're selling, they're kind of softening up the ground for their animated show that I've heard about. Yeah, so stay tuned...
Do you have any ideas with what you would like to see happen with that?
Sean Astin: Yeah, lots of ideas. (Laughs) I do I have a whole version of the movie but nobody's wanted to let me tell it to them. Nobody in a position of authority has wanted me to tell it to them so it will probably die with me. (Laughs).
The Final Season comes to theaters on October 12 from Yari Film Group.
The Goonies 2 is in development and stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, Jonathan Ke Quan, John Matuszak. The film is directed by Richard Donner.

The Goonies 2? Come one now, they're all too old! The Goonies is a CLASSIC!!! Josh Brolin is in his 40's now. It's been 23 years. Why would you do a sequel that late? Does anyone else think this is going to be ridiculous? Look what happened with The Lost Boys 2!

The Goonies could have made a 'pact' to where they return to that area in 20 years or whatever, and go on 'one last adventure'... And the discover One Eyed willy had an even larger secret.......

Goonies being filmed in the unique period of the 80's made it so good and hilarious. If they did it today, it would be crap - full of unfunny jokes (could you imagine Mouth tormenting the mexican maid in 2008??? this culture is way too p/c now, they probably wouldn't want a sloth character in it because it would be offensive.)
Hollywood should keep its grubby mits away from Goonies, Goonies 2 would be all about money, sucking in stupid sell out gen x'ers for the nostalgia factor. Unless they had the same writers and director and actors, there is no way this could be good.

I agree with sweet below. Given the right hands this may have the opprotunity to be as bis as the first. Yet on the flip side, the wrong director or writer(s) could atom bomd this idea. It has been a long time coming, and I believe Spielberg said something about it way back in 86 or 87, right after the initial rush of acclaim ended. I wouldn't start screaming yet as well. lets see who is helmed, besides the actors, before the rest of us goonies raise up and scream BS!!!

That cast was great before the will be great now, To me its not the cast its the story that will be my concern. Don't know why people down this idea hell we dont even know who is directing it yet. I am going to give it a wait and see attitude except jumping the gun and hating it before we see what the do. so to the people screaming no lets see what happens first.

THE JOKER
i loved the goonies as a kid. so im a big fan of it. but i dont think this should be a sequel. i mean they could prove us wrong but overall im afraid this will be bad. the good thing is that they seem to be getting alot of the old cast. thats at least one plus on this movie. but we will have to wait and see what hollywood can come up with

I'm Really Not The One For Sequels But, I Think This Might Work. As Long As The Original Cast And Director Are On Board, This Could Be Good! The Original Goonies Holds A Special Place In My Childhood Growing Up In The Eighties I Wouldn't Mind Seeing What The Grown Up Mikey And Co. Are Up To And What Kind Of Adventures They Can Have!
