Scott Sanders is developing a Jamaican Zombie Project
Is there anything you're writing now or that you're working to develop?
Scott Sanders: Yeah, I'm just working on a variety of things. I'd like to stay in this kind of world, not necessarily blaxploitation, but twisting genres, playing around with them. I'm a big fan of District 9. I thought it was a fantastic film. You take an alien movie and set it in Johannesburg, that to me is great. To have a big genre, fun movie with somewhat of an independent spirit, is kind of where I want to keep my focus.
Can you give us any hint about what genres you might be twisting around?
Scott Sanders: I am currently playing around with the idea of a Jamaican zombie movie. Weed plays a big factor.
Is that how they become zombies?
Scott Sanders: (Laughs) Well, the most potent weed, apparently, comes from the CIA on a farm in Mississippi. I think it's called G-13, if I'm not mistaken, so they come up with G-14... and you get zombies.
(Laughs) That sounds awesome. Are you writing this with (Black Dynamite co-writers) Byron (Minns) and Michael (Jai White) or just on your own?
Scott Sanders: It's on my own, but I'd like Michael to star in it. We've talked about. It's been fun playing around with it.
Stay tuned for my full interview with Black Dynamite writer-director Scott Sanders in the very near future and you can pick up the film on DVD or Blu-ray on February 16.

@Ps2fatboy: I did see Blood & Bone. That movie had some of the best fight scenes I had ever seen... flat out props for the realism. White is a good actor, being able to pull off being a macho man but to pull of a little ACTUAL acting is tricky for many...

''Demonizing weed, exploiting black peeps, and using the zombie premise are all grounds for a short directing career.
And if Michael Jai white is the lead, how the hell is this news Movieweb? I know none of u guys get blazed, so stop w/ the trying to be cool pandering.''
Hey brian long time no talk , nice interview has always , that was one of the stupidest and close minded coment ever. WTF demonising weed , since when the f*ck weed was the seed of the demon , I f*cking hate when people talk down weed consumption but dont see anything wrong with drinking a beer, wine or any other alcoolique beverage , it's the same f*cking thing in my opinion.
It's funny dho that you would accused this director of exploiting black peeps . F*ck every director lives on exploiting actors or any subjects for that mather , exploitation is part of film making
Hey did ya ever see a picture of galager before he moved to LA , motherf*cka was fat , a fat dvd reviwing guy , am pretty sure there was some pot smoking going on back then ;) , and f*ck a guy with so many alias has Spooker washinton/Paulignton and a few others he's bound to have to smokes pot between six packs of blue ribbon
all that to say , I cant wait to pass the zombie on the left on side

@Masta_chiefed I did this interview and decided to pull this part out separately because, well, it IS news. He told me about a movie that he's making that sounded SUPER-COOL and that no one else had heard about, which makes it news, so go fist yourself. I don't see how this is "pandering" to anyone and I also don't see how you could "know" anyone at the site enough to proclaim "I know none of you guys get blazed." Have we met before? Or is there a style of writing that indicates if someone gets high? Doubtful, so stop pretending that you know what you're talking about.
Maybe instead of me stopping "w/ the trying to be cool pandering" you can go get chiefed and forget you even wrote the comment in the first place, d-bag.
Peace in. Gallagher out!

Black Dynamite was pretty good. Michael Jai White is a good actor but to pull off being Jamaican... that can be tricky, nonetheless-offensive.

Your black Comrade? Awesome. Here I was thinking you was a cross of John Hurt and Orlando Bloom. Lol.

I think it's ironic "demonization", so get a sense of humor.
I'm black and I loved Black Dynamite. Exploitation is relative. Brother took a concept and made it his own. Seems pretty cool to me.

Ok concept, but this guy needs to give it a rest.
