EXCLUSIVE: Never Back Down Behind-the-scenes Featurette!

We've got your exclusive first look at another featurette from the upcoming fight flick, Never Back Down which hits the theaters on March 14th. Go behind-the-scenes with Sean Faris and MMA fighter Bas Rutten who show off some strength training techniques used in the film.

Set against the action-packed world of Mixed Martial Arts, Never Back Down is the story of Jake Tyler, a tough kid who leads with his fists, and, often, with his heart. Jake Tyler, played by Sean Faris, is the new kid in town with a troubled past. He has recently moved to Orlando, Florida with his family who has relocated to support his younger brother's shot at a professional tennis career. Jake was a star athlete on the football team at home, but in this new city he is an outsider with a reputation for being a quick tempered brawler.

Making an attempt to fit in, at the invitation of a flirtatious classmate, Baja (Amber Heard), Jake goes to a party where he is unwittingly pulled into a fight with a bully named Ryan McDonald (Cam Gigandet). While he is defeated and humiliated in the fight, a classmate introduces himself to Jake and tells him about the sport known as Mixed Marshall Arts (MMA). He sees a star in Jake and asks that he meet with his mentor, Jean Roqua, played by Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, In America).

It is immediately apparent to Jake that MMA is not street fighting, but rather an art form he wants to master. Roqua will take Jake under his wing, but it is up to Jake to find the patience, discipline, willingness and reason within him to succeed. For Jake, there is much more at stake than mere victory. His decision will not just settle a score; it will define who he is.

Never Back Down was released March 14th, 2008 and stars Sean Faris, Amber Heard, Cam Gigandet, Evan Peters, Leslie Hope, Djimon Hounsou, Wyatt Smith, Affion Crockett. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow.

Daniel Laruso will kick this guys ass. Even though Daniel-san is like 50 now.

I don't have a lot of hope for this film...as it follows the all too familiar template:

Dude gets his ass kicked when he moves into town.
    Dude finds a mentor.
    Dude loses courage.
    Something happens to motivate dude.
Miyagi comes back from the dead.
Dude fights Apollo Creed and loses.
Dude is trained by Professor X.
Dude falls in love with the enemy's woman.
    Dude races enemy and loses.
Dude finds a faster car, then goes to church and receives inspiration to help little kids in the street.
Then he gets hit by a bus.
Dude's new girlfriend comes to him while he's in a coma and says "just win".
Dude recovers and gets the glow and send Sho-Nuff to the section-8 housing projects.

    The end.

    ;)

I've got a detention once, but i got it taken away cuz i complained to the principal, so i didn't have to serve it. It was stupid anyway and i think the teacher had a grudge against me. And then i got suspended for two days for fighting, but the guy was a sc*mbag. Besides that i get high honor all the time, so i can be a dick and still be one of the top students in my class! lol

yeah it wont be up there with gone with the wind so what?!?!?!?!?! that doesnt mean you have to go around posting it everywhere so every person related to this site will view your comment. we dont look up to you as an authority! you are only #1 cuz you paste sh*t over and over and over! you have terrible taste and just because you claim to like old fashioned movies (which all suck btw) you think that gives you some kind of mediocre amount of culture and class when it comes to movies. yeah yeah everyone has their opinions you have said that before too. i just think you need to keep them to yourself. or maybe heres an idea: express yourself once and only once! maybe not paste sh*t more than the first time. if youre looking for a response you prolly ownt get one. but i kno i will cuz im cool as sh*t!

god damn shut up! just shut up already! shut the HELL UP! no one gives a sh*t about your damn advance screening! youre such a douchebag! you are making me and everyone else go f*cking ape sh*t over here! you get advance screenings to predictable movies more than once and you hated the film! we get it!

  29. CelluloidDreams

Well it's the truth, the movie was about a C- !! & I will repeat myself If I want too!
You know something must be wrong with a film when the studio behind the film is not sure of it's own product since they have to have 1 advance screening after another!
Within the past week alone I have gotton at least 2 more advance screening passes for "Never Back Down"! LOL!

The 1st advance screening was funny, because it was held on a Tuesday in the middle of the afternoon!
Most people who walked out were saying the same thing I said!
Alot of people agreed that "Never Back Down" was pedictable & that if you see such films as "The Karate Kid " you pretty much saw the ending coming 1/2 hour into the film! Wait I take that back, "Never Back Down" was a complete rif-off of "The Karate Kid", with "ONLY" differnce the film was moved from the world of karate to the world of MMA!
I'd sum this movie up as "Save the Last Dance" meets "The Karate Kid", without any of the redeeming values.

I won't get into the story because it's fairly clich&#233 teen movie fare, so there isn't much to get into there anyway. Like I said, if it's free, it's not too long and there is some decent action so if you have an advance screning pass you might as well go & check out the film. Otherwise, you'll probably want some money back if you do pay to see it opening weekend.

This is a film that in a about a year it will end up on TBS on some really boring Sunday night!
