Fans of the classic '80s vampire film The Lost Boys waited over twenty years for the return of the franchise, only to be somewhat disappointed by Lost Boys: The Tribe. Which barely featured any members of the original cast. That will all change with Lost Boys: The Thirst, available on DVD and Blu-ray beginning October 5th, which features the long-awaited full-length return of Edgar and Alan Frog, A.K.A. the Frog Brothers, played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander.

While Feldman reprised his role in Lost Boys: The Tribe, Edgar was reduced to a supporting character, actor Corey Haim (who played Sam Emerson in the original) was relegated to a bit part in the closing credits and Newlander's scene was cut all together, and can only be seen in an alternate ending available on the DVD. Last year we spoke to Feldman and he announced that Lost Boys: The Thirst would feature the return of the Frog Brothers with both Feldman and Newlander reprising their roles, but that Haim would not be involved.

Not long after that, we spoke to Haim himself, and while he confirmed that he would not be appearing in the latest chapter of the series, he was planning on returning to the franchise for Lost Boys 4. Unfortunately, with the actor tragically passing away last March, the triumphant return of Sam Emerson is something that fans will never have a chance to see.

We recently had a chance to sit down and speak with Corey Feldman while he was out promoting Lost Boys: The Thirst and the actor spoke to us about his friend's passing and how that has affected plans for the future of the franchise:

"I spoke to him on the phone (while we were shooting Lost Boys: The Thirst) and we were talking about the fact that he wasn't in it and how badly he wanted to be a part of it. We were all actually standing around talking the next day because he had put out a press release saying, "I spoke to Feldman, I'm not going to be in this film but I'm going to be in the next one." You might remember that story breaking, that he was planning on returning to the series. So we were actually standing around the day we shot the cemetery scene (for Lost Boys: The Thirst where Edgar visits Sam's grave), with all the other producers trying to devise the way we were going to be able to bring his character back in the next film, should we do one, and how it would best make sense to fit in with the whole storyline."

We continued by asking Feldman if that planned storyline would have had anything to do with the famous storyline from The Lost Boys comic book, "Lost Boys: Reign Of Frogs," where Sam's grandfather is revealed to be a vampire?

"I can't give too much away because you never know what we're going to do next."

We followed that up and asked the actor if there were currently plans for a Lost Boys 4?

"Everything is on the table at this point. You never know what's going to happen, it's really up to you guys. The bottom line is, if this movie does as well as it looks like it's going to do and fans and reviewers continue to receive it the way it's been received thus far then I think you can expect to see a lot more from The Lost Boys franchise."

Finally, we asked Feldman about rumors that the Frog Brothers could make an appearance on the popular CW series Supernatural this season?

"That's the first time I've heard of that but you never know what can happen. I love Warner Brothers, they are the best studio in the world and they keep us in business so anything they need we're there for them."

Lost Boys: The Thirst was released October 12th, 2010 and stars Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Tanit Phoenix, Sean Cameron Michael, Matthew Dylan Roberts, Joe Vaz, Seb Castang, Matthew Kalil. The film is directed by Dario Piana.

Lost Boys 4 is in development and stars Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Chance Michael Corbitt.

wow. they are just gonna keep cranking these out and destroying the great legacy of the first film. the original is a classic that has every element that makes any movie great, thats wht so many people still love it to this day. (movies like footloose, karate kid, top gun, all have these similar qualities) but i gotta say, the 2nd lost boys was one of the worst movies i've ever seen. terribly written, acted, and directed. and since it wasn't so well recieved, i'm curious to know why they are going ahead with not one, BUT TWO more sequels??? doesnt sound like a good idea to me. and i love feldman. i'd love to see him make appearances in more mainstream movies, but not these. they're just a waste.
and i thing seeing the frog brothers on supernatural would be a cool idea. now that actually sounds like something fun.
