Yesterday I had the chance to speak with directors Colin Strause and Greg Strause about Skyline, which came out on Blu-ray and DVD March 22. The Brothers Strause also talked a bit about their new project, War of the Ages, which, frankly, sounds awesome. Skyline co-writer Liam O'Donnell is writing the screenplay. Here's what Greg Strause had to say about this epic adventure.

"War of the Ages is going to be the next news item. Basically, an ancient artifact is uncovered, time is shattered and the seven greatest war leaders in history have to battle each other out. It's sort of like The Lord of the Rings meets Gladiator. You have Napoleon vs. Julius Caesar vs. Attila the Hun vs. Genghis Khan vs. Alexander vs. Hannibal. So, there you go. It's going to be in 3D and it's a big sword-and-sandal epic."

Greg Strause also revealed they're using a tactic from Skyline to help sell the project: Shooting a trailer before principal photography even starts.

"We just finished up the script and we have just finished the trailer we shot for it. It's sort of the same way we did Skyline, except this is a much, much bigger film. In Skyline, we shot a 90-second trailer to get everybody excited about the movie before we sold it. We're kind of following in the same footsteps, but learning from the experience and pushing forward."

Stay tuned for my full interview with Colin Strause and Greg Strause about Skyline in the very near future.

War of the Ages was released in 2011. The film is directed by Colin Strause, Greg Strause.

they were definitely stoned when they thought of this idea. yea those warriors may have been amazing in their own time, but if you brought them to the present against guns and tanks they wouldn't be able to accomplish a whole lot. poor form brothers strause

Seriously, how can such half baked ideas make it this far? Let alone get a green light? Who are these f*ckers related to?

since there's already a show laced Deadliest Warrior on SPIKE, I'm sure they would want to executive produce or help promote the film

@bawnian-dexeus Well that was Yutani (spelling?) so even though its a little far fetched at least we get to see how the Weylan-Yutani corp became so powerful. In the Alien movies it seemed they were the ruling body. I always liked the idea that in the future the corporations are the ruling body. Reminds me of Blade Runner a bit.

Hell, reminds me of our American government actually.

@masta-chiefed all of my friends hated it so i am glad to see that i am not alone here. Most people think that they ruined the AVP saga but i love how it picks up right after the last film. good stuff.

@skywise we talking about AVPR right? That's the reason why I liked it. Nothing but bloody infestation. I wish i knew what happened after the "government" or whoever that Asian woman was when they received the Predator weapon.

This sounds absolutely dim witted. I don't think I could smoke enough herb to think of such a hollow, unnecessary plot line. Let alone get adequate funding for it.

@bawnian-dexeus the characters were absolutly cliche but damnit if watching those alien ransack that lil town wasnt fun i dont know what is. Not to mention it had some awesome death scenes. Maybe they can get their act together but i just dont know what to think.

Though AVPR was fun, hopefully they can rise from the ashes, get their brains back from the aliens, and get serious

They are secialized in special effects. Their first film together was AVP Requiem. They bombed with Skyline also, even if their special effects were 3.5/5
