"He gets kicked out of the gang, so that rocks him emotionally, for a little bit. He forges his own way out there in the world. He also makes a big step and gets out of Philadelphia for the first time in his life, so there are some changes there. He goes to Atlantic City with Dennis."
I also asked Charlie if there was a possibility that they might shoot a future episode of the show in the real-life bar that Rob McElhenney owns:
"We already shot the season, but for future episodes, yeah, we could possibly film in there. We'll see if that happens. That's not a bad idea."
One of my favorite episodes in the series so far was the hilarious Season 4 finale The Nightman Cometh, where Charlie writes a musical. I had to ask if there were any other plans for future musical episodes:
"Yeah, we've been talking about it. We'll see. We don't want to kill a dead horse, but we might do a tour and we might write another musical on the show. We'll see what happens."
Another favorite of mine was the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas DVD and Blu-ray that came out last November. Charlie said that it really comes down to the network, when it comes to making future holiday-themed shows:
"That's a network thing, but we'll see how it does this Christmas, if people keep on watching it or if we have to make one every Christmas. It was a lot of fun to make."
Season 6 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia debuts on Thursday, September 16 at 10 PM ET on FX. You can also pick up It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 5 on DVD and Blu-ray in stores everywhere.
