EXCLUSIVE: Betsy Brandt Hints Breaking Bad Season 5 May Have an Extended Mid-Season Hiatus

Last night, when I attended the red carpet premiere for The Killing, which debuts Season 2 Sunday, April 1, I was not expecting to see one of the stars of another hit AMC series, Betsy Brandt of Breaking Bad. The actress plays Marie Schrader, the wife of Dean Norris' Hank Schrader, and since I knew production started soon on the fifth and final season, I had to ask her about it on the red carpet.

"(They start shooting) tomorrow, but I'm not going until a little bit later. But yes, they're going. It's happening. I read the first episode, and oh my God. Holy shit. That's all I can say. After Season 4, I was like, 'What could they do?' They're phenomenal."

Back in August, we reported that AMC renewed Breaking Bad for a 16-episode Season 5, but the actress revealed this swan song season may be split into two eight-episode halves.

"We're doing eight, and then we're taking a break, and then we're doing eight. I look at it as two short seasons, but we'll see what they do. I don't know. We're starting tomorrow, that's what I know. I don't even know when it's going to air. I think July, but don't hold me to that. I think we'll stay in July, but I don't know what they're going to do. They don't let me make those decisions."

It seems AMC may be employing the same tactic they used with The Walking Dead in Season 2, debuting the season in October with seven episodes in a row, then breaking until February when they aired the final six episodes. AMC hasn't officially announced a premiere date for Breaking Bad Season 5 yet, but we'll have that information as soon as it is released.

@themoviefanatic -- He said "Name's familiar where have i seen you before?" in an earlier post concerning Betsy Brandt, but he figured out who it was and where he saw her from quite early on.

@ghostman -- Only the first episode - everything after that is fully uncensored.

@SherlockHolmes2009 -- Ha ha, thanks, man. It's my favorite show of all-time, so I try my best. That's highly possible, and I'd be very interested in that scenario, especially if played off the right way.

Regardless, if they do choose to kill of Walter White onscreen(and there's a big chance they will), I think it will be the ultimate jaw-drop moment. It's a chilling thought..

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx You didn't tell me that Breaking Bad is "censored" on Netflix, not made at you, but why is it censored on Netflix? doesn't make any sense.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I like what you put on here and I can see that I am talking to a huge Breaking Bad fan here. My predictions of what will happen in Season 5 is Jesse will figure out what Walt did and hell go to Hank to get Walt sent to jail and Walt wouldnt want to go to jail and there will be like a shootout or hell commit suicide or when Jesse finds out what Walt did hell go after him and try to kill him. Either way, like you said, I feel like Season 4 brought it to a great closure

@ghostman -- No problem. Have you found out any spoilers concerning Breaking Bad or Game Of Thrones? I mean, I found out two major spoilers for both before I started watching them, so I'd be careful - if I were you.

Let me know what you think of the website, Breaking Bad, and Game Of Thrones after you give them a try.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Thanks for the heads-up i'll be on the look-out for slow buffering issues. That's what i wanted to know :)

@ghostman -- Yeah, basically. I'll give you a little heads-up, though. The videos take some time to buffer, so wait for the screen/page to refresh itself, and then click play. The screen will begin loading, and when it does, click pause. Wait ten minutes or so and see where the video is, which will be defined by the white line below the bar that you can use to skip the video.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx That's what I meant by clean haha. Like you can watch full episodes free without any interruptions saying "subscribe now to see entire episode, or wait an hour to continue watching" like Solar Movie does.

@ghostman -- It's a great website. The newer the show, the better the quality. Game Of Thrones doesn't have great quality so far, but it's tolerable.

Clean? All of the shows are uncensored, but I'll presume that you're talking about viruses, and so on? I thought I cleared that up in an earlier post, but if I haven't; yeah, it's pretty clean. I've never gotten any pop-ups, and I've been using the website for a couple of months now and not a virus in sight.

    @ghostman -- Three.

@SherlockHolmes2009 -- Glad to hear you feel the same way. It's really tough to say, especially since season four ended the way it did; it almost felt like a conclusion. I think Jesse will wind up finding out that Walter played part in Jane's demise, one way or another.

Breaking Bad has proved itself unpredictable, and ultimately brilliant. The standard is so high for Breaking Bad, that it's extremely difficult to guess what will happen next. Will Hank find out that Walter is the Heisenberg he's been looking for? Will Walt reach his demise by the hands of terminal cancer, Jesse, or some other irrelevant incident(See: No Country For Old Men)?

Regardless of how many questions season four has opened up, I have never had more faith or shown so much confidence in a television show before, but I say it with utmost pride that Breaking Bad will answer those questions and provide a raw, poignant ending that will stick with us for years to come.

Breaking Bad will become a standard set by many, and few(if any) television shows will have the honor of being compared with such a marvelous show. If everything settles in their place(and I'm sure as hell sure it will). Breaking Bad will not only shatter the way we think of television, but it will prove itself as a tour-de-force to be reckon with.
