Ewan McGregor Eyeing Angels & Demons

Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer has signed on for the female lead opposite Tom Hanks in Columbia Pictures' The Da Vinci Code prequel Angels & Demons. Ewan McGregor is in talks to join the thriller, which is based on the Dan Brown best-seller.

According to Variety, McGregor is considering the role of a powerful Vatican insider who assists Langdon.

Ron Howard is directing from an Akiva Goldsman script.

The story centers on religious art scholar Robert Langdon (Hanks), who once again finds himself entangled with powerful forces with ancient roots: the Illuminati -- the most powerful underground organization in history -- and the Catholic Church. Zurer will play Vittoria Vetra, an Italian scientist who joins forces with Langdon.

No word on when production will begin.

I agree that Ewan McGregor is without a doubt one of the most underrated actors in the business today. The guy is sheer brilliance. Think about how diverse he is, he went from becoming a heroin addicted, trippin out freak in Train spotting to a perfect carbon copy of Alex Guiness as the young, but very wise Obi-Wan Kenobi. Both of which roles are complete opposites from Lincoln in the Island or Edward Bloom in Big Fish.
With that noted, I am very pleased with this news, and according to Joblo.com he has already signed on for the role and is not in negotiations anymore.
Also, I don't know what some of you guys are talking about because the books are great. The amount of research Dan Brown would have to do to make these books as plausible as they are is freakin ridiculous. The detail of all the locations is exact.
Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code was ok, not even remotely fantastic but not terrible either. I think this one will be better. I hope so anyway.

Kwisatz Haderach, underrated doesn't mean under-known. It means people don't appreciate him as much as they should.
