'Evil Dead' to Arrive One Week Early on April 5th

Bruce Campbell confirms that the horror film will now fill the slot vacated by Paul Feig's comedy 'The Heat'.
Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake has moved up a week from April 12th to April 5th. Bruce Campbell made the announcement last night to all of his followers on twitter.

The film centers on Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety. She heads to a remote cabin with her brother and friends, where they discover The Book of the Dead. This tome encased in human flesh and written in blood soon unleashes an evil that eventually breaks them down, tears them apart, literally limb from limb, and brings them to their doom.

April 5th became a prime launching ground after director Paul Feig's comedy The Heat was awarded a more fertile summer release date yesterday. That left only Universal's 3D re-release of Steven Spielberg's classic Jurassic Park. Soon after this announcement, Danny Boyle moved his thriller Trance to the spring slot, which offered the promise of a good box office weekend. But now, stars James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson are going to have to do battle with some angry Deadites. Evil Dead is becoming one of the most anticipated horror movies of this year, so it brings some tough competition. Trance does not have blood rain, rape vines, or death by turkey knife. Which one will you see?

Evil Dead was released April 5th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore, Phoenix Connolly, Jim McLarty, Sian Davis. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I'm not looking forward to it at all, but, if I had to choose, the rape scene. Makes me sound like a crude bastard, but in the immortal words of DiCaprio, "You had my curiosity, now you have my attention." But that is as far as I'll go. I only kept seeing SAW because the first one was kind of revolutionary for me.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I can't really say except from the stuff I've seen in the trailers (rape vines, blood rain, vomit kiss) you know that stuff.

I'm curious to know what all this "animal abuse" talk is about. The only thing I can remember from the original movies that had to do with animals was the laughing deer head that was possessed .

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx The tree raping looks brutal! I'm also most excited for the blood storm (if it hasn't been cut out) and when Jane Levy's character is singing from the basement door.

@ghostman@corey@ROFLitschristian@bawnian-dexeus -- What scene(s) are you most looking forward to? I've gotta go with the "animal abuse/torture", and the "tree rape" scenes. Brutality reasons, alone.
