Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert still pushing through the Evil Dead remake
It's seems Sam Raimi and Ghost House Pictures' Rob Tapert are still kicking around the idea of rebooting The Evil Dead. In a recent interview with Freep, the producer was asked about the status of the long-rumored project. Here's what he had to say...

"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month" Tapert said. "What's interesting about Evil Dead, is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."

The Evil Dead was released October 15th, 1981 and stars Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard DeManincor, Betsy Baker, Theresa Tilly, Philip A. Gillis, Dorothy Tapert, Cheryl Guttridge. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

Evil Dead was released April 5th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore, Phoenix Connolly, Jim McLarty, Sian Davis. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez.

Dude. No. No remake. This is one of the greatest horror movies out there. They could just do a nation-wide re-release.

Evil dead I and II were revolutionary in its visuals, in that having such a low budget they were forced to work with what they had, and were able to pull it off using simply a film camera, which lead to stunning camera angel shots, that still leave me in awe every time i watch them.

That's why I believe in strict originality, because it forces one to think and create something very unique. Sure you can remake or retell a story and give it your own twist or interpretation, but in most cases it fails and it does more harm then good. Which is why Hollywood have lost their way and fell into their own trap.

Anyways, I have my Evil Dead Blue-ray and I'm happy with that.

Bruce is Ash, period. I just can't see anyone trying to play that part other then him. Another thing that I fear with a remake or a sequel for that matter, is that Raimi won't stay with the same format. Since I'm sure it will have a much larger budget then the originals he will relay on cgi more. That's one of the things that made the others so great. Yes, they were cheap but still looked good. That's one of the problems I had with the new Clash of the Titans and Star War movies compared to the originals. Cgi isn't always better.
