Evil Dead 4 will be Army of Darkness 2
Director Sam Raimi made horror headlines last week while promoting his latest film Oz: The Great and Powerful, when he claimed that he would actually start writing Evil Dead 4 this summer with his brother Ivan Raimi, who has collaborated with Sam on the first three films.
Evil Dead, the 2013 remake by director Fede Alvarez, premiered Friday night at SWSX, where it was met with general praise from the crowd of horror fans who gathered early and stood in line for hours to see it. After the screening, producers Robert G. Tapert and Bruce Campbell participated in a Q&A about the new Evil Dead, where questions about Evil Dead 4 were answered.
It was Rob Tapert who clarified that Evil Dead 4 is actually going to be Army of Darkness 2. He explains.
"That would be Army of Darkness 2. Everybody calls it Evil Dead 4, but Army Of Darkness wasn't called Evil Dead anywhere except by the fans."
Bruce Campbell, who fans have long hoped would return as Ash, had this to say about his possible come back.
"Sam threatens this every six months. I've heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he's not going to let that go, and I'm never going to say 'no.' It'll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that's what he does and who knows? It may happen."
Nothing has been confirmed in terms of Army of Darkness 2 moving into production, but Evil Dead 2 is confirmed to be in the works, and will be a direct sequel to the 2013 version of the horror movie, which arrives in April.
Army of Darkness 2 comes to theaters in 2016 and stars Bruce Campbell. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

@diaigma, that's ok. No biggie. I respect a fan who makes a mistake, accepts it and takes it in stride. "Hale to Diaigma", and "JOYYYYEEEEN USSSSS!"

Wow, "the iconic horror character created Bruce Campbell". Now that's art imitating life!
Sorry @diaigma, "Hale to the king, Baby!"
@Celluloid, we've been waiting for this for years. It's NOT anything for a buck! If you've ever read any comments for, revolving around, in regards to, or about the Evil Dead, you would surely know that fans a starving for more Kandarian Demons and smoking boomstick. Besides your female, you wouldn't get it anyway. Just go rent "While You Were Sleeping" or "Girl, Interupted" and leave us men to the real movies that people will care about and remember twenty plus years from now.

Soo are they using the future London ending from Army of Darkness?

Good idea, actually, because between Cabin in the Woods and the rebooted Evil Dead, the cabin horror genre might be a bit crowded right now. This gives Raimi a chance to bring some of the digital tricks he tried on Oz to a horror movie that will be bigger than the Evil Dead films. I'm excited to see what he comes up with.

At first, I liked the idea of this AOD sequel but on the other hand, I want one like the first. Going back to its roots but this is fine.

It would be interesting to see how Raimi continues his beloved franchise with an actual budget. I was fine with Evil Dead as a trilogy (since I didn't like AoD very much), but if Sam thinks he has another script up his sleeve, let's see it happen!
