Evan Spiliotopoulos to Write Wanted 2

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Evan Spiliotopoulos (co-writer of Pooh's Heffalump Movie) will be writing the action sequel Wanted 2 for Universal.

The film will be based on a story by Chris Morgan. The sequel will be based on the comic series created by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones.

Timur Bekmambetov, the director of the first film, will also be writing the sequel.

For Wanted 2, the creative team is working on the challenge of continuing the story after most of the principal characters ended the original in no position for an encore.

Wanted 2 is in development and stars James McAvoy.

Mcavoy was the ONLY good thing the whole production. He has shown good adaptability. WANTED was a 'good looking' pile of sh*t. It was well made, but was extremely corny and cheesy. Lacked the grit of the comic.

And to make sure the second is going to be even more cartoony they're getting the HEFFALUMP??? makes perfect sense to me!!!

What is it with these movie studios that constantly f*ck with comic book authors.

LOL i agree with Matix, but this is a hard oncept to adapt to film. and they literally raped Wanted for all its worth.

Vis, bad news, Millar got dumped ages ago for writing the Superman Reboot. They are still doing pitches, i believe unless its already in pre-production development.
But i remember that Millar got dropped, because it really f*cked me off too.

    LMAO @ Zz's comment

Who knows this could be Winnie The Pooh with guns.

Piglet with a beretta...Tigger with an AK...Could be pretty awesome XD

I'll hold judgement until we see more, but agree with most comments on here... for what it was, the first one was fun, funny, and great popcorn entertainment. Wasn't thrilled with James McAvoy being selected for the part, but after seeing it... for an action movie, the humor was slick, not stupid and McAvoy ended up doing a really decent job.

I hope the only reason Mark Millar isn't writing it is because he's hard at work on his Superman trilogy

Just Evan Spiliotopoulos' name is difficult to take seriously. Then throw in Winnie the Pooh as his most acclaimed writing credit. ....Really?

However, you have to start somewhere, and first film was awesome.

So, we'll wait and see.. Best of luck Spils....

I figured this would come about considering how much the first film grossed.

and now they want to make a sequel to it, to continue capitalizing on something that they've completely changed. I'm all for the adaptation of comics to movies, inviting new audiences to an amazing art medium usually ignored, but this is one of the instances where lack of artistic integrity has ruined something for the sake of money.

I understand that the comic was too crazy to adapt well to a movie, but they didn't even take the base storyline. The assassins weren't trying to protect the world with their killings in the book, they were supervillians fighting more ruthless supervillians. There wasn't anything noble about what they were doing. The only thing that was kept was some character names, and wes's abilities. total bastardization of a cool concept.

They already just f*cked this whole Wanted thing up with me. They should have just kept the superhero story in there instead of changing it into some secret agent Angelina FatLip ass bullsh*t.

There are so many ways they can go wrong by doing this. If they do it right, it could be way better than the first one because it wasn't that great. It was okay, but not great. Either way, this one probably won't be as successful as the first one.
