Eva Mendes Joins Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant

Eva Mendes is in talks to join the Werner Herzog-directed reimagining of The Bad Lieutenant for Nu Image/Millennium Films, starring opposite Nicolas Cage.

According to Variety, the 1992 original film starred Harvey Keitel as a corrupt cop investigating a nun's rape. It was produced by Edward R. Pressman and directed by Abel Ferrara from a screenplay by Ferrara and Zoe Lund. Billy Finkelstein has written the updated version.

Production will begin in late summer.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was released November 20th, 2009 and stars Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Xzibit, Shawn Hatosy, Jennifer Coolidge, Tom Bower. The film is directed by Werner Herzog.

    seriously though it doesnt matter anymore.
    hollywood is a caricature of its past self. the thing about bad lieutenant is that it was by no means a hollywood movie, so now its like we're going to get to see a parody of it, the likes of which movies like 'last action hero' made fun of.

    we already have the brilliant version, now its time for the watered down cartoon version.

    Eva Mendes and Nicolas Cage...thats a good combo.But featuring in a 1992 remake is f*cked up.Give it time to be old enough to be remade.So whats next? f*ckin remakes of iron man and hanc*ck?

    I will watch this and probably love it,but will do so with a negative attitude.
