Eric Valette to Direct Remake of One Missed Call

Eric Valette has agreed to direct the remake of Japanese supernatural horror hit Chakushin ari (One Missed Call in English) for Warner Bros.; Alcon Entertainment, Intermedia, and Kadokawa Pictures USA are also attached in distribution.

The story was adapted by Andrew Klavan from the original Japanese film by Takashi Mike; in Japan, One Missed Call has become a lucrative franchise, with a third installment now in production.

It revolves around a college student whose friends begin receiving cell phone messages from the future in which they hear themselves being murdered, says Variety. When she receives her own death message, the coed has three days to change her fate.

Production for One Missed Call is set to begin in the summer; a 2007 release is scheduled.
