First British thespian Daniel Day-Lewis is hired to portray all-American Honest Abe in Steven Spielberg's upcoming biopic Lincoln, and now Australian actor Eric Bana is being eyed to play our fifteenth president in director Timur Bekmambetov's big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Bana is set to meet with Bekmambetov about the highly coveted role soon, and is currently in the lead to headline this gruesome mash-up of vampires and politicians. The story will find the 6'3 actor (the president was 6'4) battling the undead in this retelling of Abe's secret diaries, which recount his mission to eradicate the world of vampires.

Tim Burton will produce this upcoming horror-themed adventure, which is set for production in early 2011.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter comes to theaters June 22nd, 2012 and stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Alan Tudyk, Rufus Sewell. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov.
