Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick sell the sci-fi thriller Epsilon to Sony
The story is set in a future where a robot uprising failed, causing the remaining machines to take refuge on a space station where they use humans as their guinea pigs. The plot focuses on a man who comes to realize he is more human than he once thought. The script was described as "ambitious" by one anonymous studio executive.
Michael De Luca is producing alongside the screenwriters. The script was sent out to studios on Monday, with Warner Bros. and DreamWorks also expressing strong interest. The writers' deal with Sony is said to be in the $1 million range.
No production schedule was given. The writing duo also have Deadpool in development at Fox, along with Micronauts at Paramount and Cowboy Ninja Viking at Disney.
