Emma Watson and Logan Lerman Are Circling The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The project is set up at John Malkovich's Mr. Mudd Production Company.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky is going to direct from his own script with Lianne Halfon, Malkovich and Russell Smith.
This is Emma Watson's first feature role apart from her work as Hermione Granger in Warner Bros.' eight Harry Potter films.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower was published in 1999. It is narrated by a shy and unpopular teenager who talks about "his life by writing a series of letters to an anonymous person and explores the awkward times of adolescence, including drug use and sexuality."

Emma Watson starred in Ballet Shoes, so this upcoming film will not be her first feature. The book Perks of Being a Wallflower was lame, I hope the film version will be more interesting. It's going to have Logan Lerman in it, so it's worth seeing.

I'm assuming Emma would play Sam, which is a completely different character from the ones she usually plays. It will be really nice to see her get to show off her range. Emma is one of the rare actresses who can play anything: drama, comedy, romance, horror, etc. She's very talented.
I also heard John Malkovich will be in this film. How cool is that?
@Geek: You're entitled to your own opinion, but I think he's awesome.

Vanboy
Yes, she has always been beautiful. A real beauty and not JUSt hot. She's that too, but she can really act, without really trying to be hot.
Sounds like this might be an "R" rated film. Watson may be stepping into more adult roles from here on. She did say that when a role required nudity, she'd just do it without any problem. She said that, about the time, Radcliff was doing those nude scenes on stage.
This sounds like and arthouse film.

I read this book awhile ago. I'm glad the author is directing this, rather than someone else f*cking it up.

the Narrator
@Geek, he's decent in Gamer, good in the Butterfly Effect at a young age, and he was good in 3:10 to Yuma. Sorry bud, but I give him props alone for being in anything related to Disney or Nickelodeon like all child actors these days.
As for Watson, I agree she is hot, and I'd love her in this movie, after all, she'd be exploring "the awkward times of adolescence, including drug use and sexuality." Perfect. :)

@Geek Star: Logan Lerman is pretty talented. See 3:10 to Yuma.
@Sonnytropez: Emma isn't taking acting classes. She's studying the art of acting at Brown, which isn't the same thing...i think. Either way, she will be brilliant.

I'll also say, over time, I've come to respect Harry Potter. I liked how the story became progressively darker and more mature as it went, and all the credit goes to Ms. Rowling for creating that world.

And yeah, she's turned out to be pretty good looking :)

I'll be fascinated to see if she can break away from the Hermione role and into other movies successfully. Sometimes that's a hard transition for child actors, and actors intensely associated with a certain series (Mark Hamill comes to mind).
