Emily Blunt joins Captain America?
It was said the role would be that of the title character's girlfriend, who is believed to be named Peggy Carter. While Marvel Studios has made an offer to Blunt, the site reports that she is close to signing to different projects and will turn down the offer.
The site is also reporting that the two other candidates on the studio's short list are actresses Keira Knightley and Alice Eve. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any and all updates surrounding The First Avenger: Captain America as soon as we have more information.
Captain America: The First Avenger was released July 22nd, 2011 and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Richard Armitage, Stanley Tucci. The film is directed by Joe Johnston.

IGN has reported that Emily Blunt has turned down the role of Peggy Carter. They speculate that it is because of the fact that her fiance, John Krasinski, did not get the role of Captain America. You can make whatever you want to out of that, but as of now, it is down to Knightly and Eve.

Her or Knightley will do very nicely. Knightley has more of the 40's 50's look thou, but her acting abilities are far more diverse I am sure.

She was supposed to be playing Black Widow so I don't think she'll turn Marvel Studios down. She was only replaced by Scarlett Johanssen when scheduling conflicts came up because she was making another movie at the same time.

It would be strange if she turns this down, since she worked with Joe Johnston on WOLFMAN, and plus has already missed a chance to be Black Widow in IRON MAN. Is she picky, or is she just waiting to be offered the ultimate role of Wonder Woman in some future project?
