Emily Blunt Off of Iron Man 2?

It seems that director Jon Favreau's superhero sequel still needs some casting work. According to The Playlist, actress Emily Blunt will not appear in Iron Man 2. Here's what an insider wrote in to the site.

"On E!'s post show at the red carpet of some party, Jon Favreau said that Fox exercised its [Gulliver's Travels] option on Emily Blunt, and that she definitely won't be in Iron Man 2. The reporter was chatting with Favreau and asking about what he can tell them about Iron Man 2. He said Mickey Rourke isn't officially cast but that he is a fan. Then she asked about Emily and Favreau said that about Fox exercising their option, which I hadn't heard before. I thought they were still trying to make it work. He said he was disappointed but didn't say anything about Scarlett Johansson replacing her or anyone else taking the role."

We'll surely keep you posted on any other casting or other news for Iron Man 2 as soon as we have more information.

Iron Man 2 was released May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

I haven't lost any faith in this movie, VIS. I'm just saying that I think Blunt should've gotten the role. If they can pick someone else fit for the role, then so be it. I just had my heart set on Blunt is all.

    Thanks, Shelley

It's not bad luck. There's casting rumors on almost every major film. People take it seriously(and I'm not excluding myself) because they're excited, but the fact of the matter is, this happens on a hell of a lot more movies than just Iron Man 2. You know who they were considering before Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler? Nic f*cking Cage. You know who they were considering for Iron Man before Robert Downey Jr. and Jon F came along? Tom Cruise. They never happened and it's good they didn't. Jon will make good out of this. Mickey Rourke and Emily Blunt were just names made public by the media that jumped the gun. The TDK sequel has had how many casting rumors now that were supposedly "confirmed?" Iron Man 2 will and should get made

Maybe they shouldn't make Iron Man 2.
It just seems like everyone's been having bad luck on the whole thing.

I'm JUST saying it's NOT a big deal and people shouldn't be losing faith in this movie ALREADY...completely ridiculous. You have to think about the on screen chemistry between the actors. Think about Downey's performance and his actual attitude...they aren't that far apart. If they're planning on going the "bad girl agent who seduces Tony" path, then Scarlett would be the better choice. She has the star power and appearance to fit in with the rest of the heavy hitters making up the cast. Even if they don't pick her...whatever. The point is that it's stupid to lose faith in this movie so soon when these actors weren't even confirmed or signed on

Yeah VIS because my opinion is always based on stuff I liked, isn't it? (And in case you didn't know, this was sarcasm).

I know enough about the character from Wikipedia and my "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" game to know that she's a great choice.

...I don't think Fox is involved in this. Iron Man 2 is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount...no mention of Fox. Besides, if Fox was involved, this wouldn't have anything to do with them. In case you hadn't noticed, the Watchmen law suit is over, so you can stop blaming them for stuff they didn't do. Fox are *ssholes but they haven't touched Iron Man

Yeah, i like Cheadle too, ever since Meteor Man. But Scar Jo could never pull this off, frankly, i don't think she's that great. A little overrated if you ask me.

  18. T.Clark

Meh, no biggie. Jon knows what he's doing, it'll still turn out great. Cheadle will do better than Howard and he's likely to become War Machine anyway. Vamp, you're only basing your assumption that she'd be perfect for the role on the fact you liked her in The Devil Wears Prada, or any other movie you've seen her in. You haven't read any comics so it's hard to say she'd be perfect...Just saying. I want to clarify for the staff that I wasn't blatantly bashing someone there. Seriously guys, this isn't a big deal. I would've been happy either way. Hopefully if they cast Scar Jo she can pull the accent off, but I think Downey and her chemistry on set will be better than his and Blunt's would have been.

To sum things up: I think it's kinda ridiculous to lose faith in this movie so soon. These people weren't even confirmed by the sounds of it, the entertainment websites just jumped the gun. By that logic, the only real big change in the cast is Terrence Howard, but you shouldn't worry about that, cuz Cheadle is gonna do just as good, probably better. Jon F is sure to cast people of equal or better value. Hell, Rourke could still sign on cuz he wasn't officially cast. Like I said: jumping the gun.
