Ellen Page Quits Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell

Oscar nominee Ellen Page has dropped out of Sam Raimi's upcoming horror film, Drag Me To Hell.

In a joint statement from Ghost House Pictures and Mandate Pictures:

"We were racing to start production so that we could accommodate Ellen's schedule. But like so many other productions trying to start before the potential SAG strike date, this one needed more time and we had to push back the start of production."

Sam Raimi co-wrote the film with his brother Ivan, and is set to direct this tale about a woman who unsuspectedly becomes the host of a supernatural curse. Filming was set to begin on March 17 in Los Angeles, but it is unclear how Page's reported departure will affect the film's schedule.

Drag Me to Hell was released May 29th, 2009 and stars Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Lorna Raver, Dileep Rao, David Paymer, Adriana Barraza, Chelcie Ross, Reggie Lee. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.

The excitement should be more about Raimi doing horror again. Ellen Page is cool, guess it wasn't her thing.

Ellen Page is too full of herself. Turning down roles because she thinks she's better than that role. She looks like a bitch. She can't act to save her life. Can somebody say "MONOTONE"??!!! She made SNL suck. HARD.

Gee, I don't know about this. Call me naive, but i know i wouldnt pass up a chance to work with raimi. this wont be any old crappy horror film, its a sam raimi film. the return to the way we knew him. also i think she did this to do exactly what you guys beleive-to seem mature, good thing too, i thought she was twelve. also she looks like danni the dike from shot at love with tila tequila.

  14. AnnoyingFilmCritic

Starring in a horror movie isn't a good career trajectory for an Oscar nominated actress...She's fielding better scripts.

    MarcusX, she's not 16, she's 21...just looks young.

This is both a good & bad thing...It's a good thing she pulled out if she felt like it was not wroking for her, but I'm surprised she didn't try to talk witht he director, but the bad side is people will start too see the "DIVA" side come out of her & label her difficult!

I still Ellen Page she have also gotton an Oscar nod for Best Actress for "Hard Candy"!

i think shes smart enough to do whats best for herself. i dunno how it would pan out if she was in this role but i do kno someday if she was in a horror role it would suit her. as long as she picks the right one of course

This is actually good for her career if she wants to be seen as a serious and respectable actress. It doesnt matter who directs or writes the movie, lately the horror genre is for mediocre actors. Now go ahead and tell me Im wrong.
