Elizabeth Berkley and Briana Evigan Board S. Darko

Elizabeth Berkley and Briana Evigan have stepped onboard S. Darko (aka "Samantha D"), the sequel to Donnie Darko being directed by Chris Fisher.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) and Justin Chatwin (The Chumscrubber) also are in the movie, which stars Daveigh Chase, reprising her role from the original cult classic.

The story, set seven years after the first film, follows Donnie Darko's sister, Samantha, who, in dealing with her broken family, flees town with her best friend (Evigan) when they are plagued by bizarre visions.

Berkley is playing a speed freak-turned-Jesus freak whose sentiments about ridding the world of its exponential sin are rivaled only by her infatuation with her dreamy pastor.

Production has begun in Utah.

S. Darko was released in 2009 and stars Daveigh Chase, Briana Evigan, James Lafferty, Ed Westwick, Walter Platz, John Hawkes, Bret Roberts, Jackson Rathbone. The film is directed by Chris Fisher.

    Donnie was and is a superb cult classic. How can a "sequal" follow up I do not understand. If you love the story of Donnie you may want to wait till the "directors special gold diamond edition" comes out to really enjot this fragment of the story. Then again I know only one other "fan" of the original that ever finished the Donnie Web series. Look out for rabbits.
