Edward Norton in talks for villain role in The Bourne Legacy
Edward Norton is in talks to play the villain. Tony Gilroy is directing from a script he wrote.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, Jason Bourne will not be featured in the film, and Jeremy Renner is set to play another assassin trained in the same program that Bourne was trained in.
No production date has been set.
The Bourne Legacy comes to theaters August 3rd, 2012 and stars Rachel Weisz, Jeremy Renner, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Oscar Isaac, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Scott Glenn. The film is directed by Tony Gilroy.

I'm not big on the fact that they are continuing the trilogy, but the very fact that Jeremy Renner, and one of my favorite actors of all-time, Edward Norton, is joining the cast -- Makes this a must-see.

I am usually not that stocked about the Bourne movies (not that they are bad or anything, they're just not really my thing), but the possible addition of Edward Norton really makes me interested in watching this movie. He truly needs and deserves more high profile roles!

@ejk1, not to toot my own horn, but I've always had an open mind to this spin-off, and have a decent amount of faith in Gilroy's abilities. It's all these other poozers getting kicked about with this casting news. :P

I rather have Damon back but Renner will be a solid replacement and I LOVE me some Weisz, so we're good there but not really feeling Norton in this all that much. He just doesn't seem like a perfect "bad guy" for this type of film. Just my opinion, I'm sure there will be plenty who will disagree.

There are 8 books in the Bourne saga now, I always thought the rest of the Robert's books would all be in one reality. I would love it if someone made a Treadstone book series besides Bourne, something like Treadstone: Agent of Mercy, Treadstone: D.E.A, Treadstone: Black Flag and feature it with this new agent that we're suppose to see in this new film.

Great casting. Norton didn't have to be involved for me to give this a chance. Here's a thought for any readers: everyone was so quick to be okay with Renner joining Mission Impossible as Cruise's possible replacement, yet they balked at this project without Damon.

@zender Well, they've already taken a LOT of liberties versus the book series with the previous 3. But I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of naming the next movie Treadstone, since Renner's agent is from the same program. That's something I could really get behind.

It's a different agent that's why, Matt Damon is Jason Bourne.
