Norton reiterated that in addition to being kept in the dark about a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, he remains equally uncertain about appearing in The Avengers. That film, which is expected to star the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, all of whom should be drawn from their own solo films, is scheduled for a 2011 release. "They've got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters," said Norton. "Who knows where they'll go?"
The Incredible Hulk was released June 13th, 2008 and stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell, Christina Cabot, Peter Mensah. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier.
Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

You don't see banner in the avengers comics cuz the hulk was only a member for a the first few issues in the 60s. However, the hulk had a more active role in the ultimates, and banner DID have a place in that comic. Norton has to be in the avengers. You can't just introduce the hulk smashing sh*t. What?
