Edward Neumeier will make his feature directorial debut on the second sequel to Starship Troopers.

It's based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein, in which Neumeier has written all three scripts of the franchise. Production Weekly reports Casper Van Dien is in talks to reprise his role as Johnny Rico, now a General in the Terran Mobile Infantry embroiled in a vast interplanetary war with the Bugs.

Starship Troopers3 will be shot in hi-def in South Africa, with
principle photography scheduled to begin in March.
