Edward James Olmos on Battlestar Galactica's Future!
It was reported back in March that Syfy was looking to make another Battlestar Galactica spin-off series, in addition to its Caprica series. Edward James Olmos revealed to us that this new series would revolve around the Cylon Wars. Take a look at what he has to say about this new series below, plus details on a graphic novel he's writing that will take place after the Battlestar Galactica series finale.
With Battlestar Galactica, do you have any remaining questions about your journey with Admiral Adama?
Edward James Olmos: Yeah, I want to know what he's doing right now, don't you? (Laughs) I'd like to know what's happening to him right now. Oftentimes throughout the day, I'll just think, 'I wonder what he's doing? What the heck is he up to?' There they were, 200,000 years ago on this Earth, and they came from the experience they came from. I was happy with the ending because they kept it wide open. I think they're going to go to the Cylon Wars. I forgot the working title of it, but they're going to go into the Cylon Wars. They have Caprica, which is I guess 51 years before Battlestar Galactica started, when I was about 10 or 11 years old. Then they're going to go to when I was around 20, during the Cylon Wars. That's the next time they're going to look at. I think Glen A. Larson is going to come up with the film, but that's going to be different. That will be a completely different look at it.
Who would you like to play you, or play Adama, as a young man?
Edward James Olmos: I think he's already been cast, the guy who played me in the series. He was great. This kid that played me in Battlestar. There was the one episode where I go back in time and you see me fighting when I find out about the hybrids, how they build human beings and how they have them hanging there.
Do you think they'll ever go back to the story after the series finale?
Edward James Olmos: I am (Laughs). If they don't, I am. I'm going to go there in a graphic novel. It's hopefully happening pretty soon. It depends on whether people get behind it and understand it for what it is. I think people would flip out to know what Adama is doing on the planet. How is the planet treating us and how are we treating the planet? How are we getting along? That's pretty heavy.
We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further news on the upcoming Battlestar Galactica spin-off series and Edward James Olmos' graphic novel as soon as we have more information.

Yes, I'm nuts for anything BSG-related. Best sci-fi show in my book.

I would read the graphic novel. I'd like to know what he did afterwards, and what happened with Giaus Baltar and Caprica/Number 6, and of course Lee Adama, since he said he wanted to explore the world after getting there.
