E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial returns to theaters for one night only October 3
Tickets for "TCM Presents E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 30th Anniversary Event" are available now at participating theater box offices and online at FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented using new digital cinema projection systems in more than 560 select movie theaters around the country. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial stars Henry Thomas as Elliott, an imaginative boy who meets a lost alien and forges of one of cinema's most endearing friendships. With help from his older brother, Michael (Robert MacNaughton), and little sister, Gertie (Barrymore), Elliott sets out to help the visitor find his way back home before government agents can capture him. Dee Wallace and Peter Coyote co-star.
Released in 1982, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial became the biggest blockbuster of the year, ranking No. 1 over 16 different weekends. Today, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial remains the fourth most successful movie of all time in the domestic box office (adjusted for ticket inflation). Nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Writing and Best Screenplay, the film took home four Oscars for Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Sound and Best Music for John Williams' now-iconic score.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will celebrate the 30th anniversary of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial with the film's Blu-ray release on Tuesday, October 9. Featuring an all-new, digitally remastered picture, as well as all-new 7.1 surround sound, the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack includes the 1982 theatrical movie, an all-new interview with Spielberg, and "The E.T. Journals," featuring never-before-seen footage from the set of the film.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released June 11th, 1982 and stars Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore, Peter Coyote, K.C. Martel, Sean Frye, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

@mcleve02 Only problem I have with RT is that they sometimes categorize a review wrong. Their was a "fresh" review from a critic who gave the film a B-, RT put it in the "Rotten" category.

@dan1 -- Yeah, I really liked "Prometheus" shortly after seeing it. But, over time, the love wears off. As far as summer blockbusters go, it's a really good movie. But, it's nothing more than that. I still gave it a 7/10, if that says anything.
Yeah, especially seeing how they reacted to the end of "The Grey". Besides the script(dialogue, plot line, and characters included), I didn't have an issue with "Prometheus". The special effects were fantastic, and two of the actors gave great performances(I'm sure you know who I'm talking about). The entertainment value was there, but the pacing got a little uneven towards the end. And then you have the little bits of blood/gore(?). Need I say more?

Also- I liked Prometheus. I think people will forgive it more if part 2 actually feeds them more answers. I personally like ambiguity, but I know how crazy that drives some people.

@dan1 -- Oh, don't get me wrong, "The Hunger Games" and "The Dark Knight Rises" were alright, but that kind of percentage is an overstatement - especially for "The Dark Knight Rises"; it was plot hole galore. For every plot hole in "Prometheus", "The Dark Knight Rises" had two, and that's saying A LOT.
