Dwayne Johnson Heads to Tomorrowland Film

Disney is in talks to turn Tomorrowland, one of the sections of the Disneyland theme park, into a feature-length space movie that will star Dwayne Johnson.

According to Variety, the studio has set scribes Jon Lucas and Scott Moore to draft an epic-sized action adventure set in space. The film is being designed as a vehicle for Johnson, who starred for the studio in family hit The Game Plan and most recently completed Race to Witch Mountain.

Disney denies the film has been titled "Tomorrowland" or is dedicated to the park's section, a futuristic area of the Magic Kingdom that includes such attractions as Space Mountain. The studio called the nascent project an original script.

No production date has been set.

    I'd rather see him do Spy Hunter, especially since he already has a game out about that.

    Leave Disney alone, Dwayne! Go back to the action movies.

    The Game Plan - 90.6 million
    Scorpion King - 90.5 million
    The Rundown - 47.6 million
    Walking Tall - 46.2 million
    Gridiron Gang - 38.4 million
    Doom - 28.2 million

    He wasn't the Main Actor in the following:

    Mummy Returns - 202.0 million
    Get Smart - 129.0 million
    Be Cool - 55.8 million

    The movie that made the most money was Disney's The Game Plan. Is there any wonder why they're going back to him? The only action movie that came close to that was Scorpion King.

    I don't think he's THAT bad of an actor, in fact, he's got a whole lot better since he started... but he STILL really can't make the big buck that studios are looking for.

    We'll see in the near future as he is scheduled for G.I. Joe, Planet 51, Spy Hunter, and Shazam. Let's see if he can turn things around actually make us WANT to go see his movies. I doubt it.

    Give it a rest you guys. Johnson is more of a genre actor, in other words there is only one genre I've seen him act in that wasn't half bad: action. The Rundown, Walking Tall, The Scorpion King, even Gridiron Gang was good. OK, the Game Plan wasn't his best film (Doom was his worst), but these are live-action Disney films, of course they're gonna get corny from time to time, reguardless of actor(s). This Tomorrowland doesn't sound very promising, but again I'm not 6+ any more. And by the way LankStun, Dwayne has said that he's committed to acting over wrestling now because the paycheck is prettier. He's said that his heart belongs to wrestling, but that the salary from acting is too good to pass up. Plus he loves acting too.
