The actor was once being considered for the lead in the now-defunct Shazam!, where he would have portrayed Black Adam. That movie has been put on indefinite hold due to its similarities to Man of Steel. With Batman Vs. Superman threatening to add more Justice League characters to its line-up, its entirely possible that Dwayne Johnson could be joining this growing ensemble. But who would he play? Martian Manhunter? Cyborg? Lex Luthor?
Lobo still seems like the most likely project. The movie will be based on Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen's comic book centering on an intergalactic bounty hunter. Created in 1984, the title rose to new levels of popularity in the 1990s, when Lobo was reinvented as a biker. Joel Silver is attached to produce the adaptation.
Lobo is rumored to be the first in a series of low-budget adaptations being set up by Warner Bros./DC Comics.
Dwayne Johnson also reveals that San Andreas: 3D, which is being directed by Lobo's Brad Peyton, shoots in April. It, too, is set to be a low-budget affair.
We reported earlier this month that Warner Bros. has handed out a June 6, 2015 release date for San Andreas: 3D. The story centers on a helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) who sets off to find his missing daughter, in the aftermath of a massive California earthquake.
