Jim Carrey departs Dumb and Dumber 2
Here's what the actor had to say, through his publicist.
"I would have thought Dumb and Dumber To was a no-brainer, after all it's implied in the title."
The Farrelly brothers have had casting roadblocks in the past involving the funnyman. He was set to star alongside Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro in The Three Stooges before the project fell apart. The brothers eventually went with Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Of course, it will be a lot harder to re-cast a role like Lloyd Christmas for a sequel, especially for a comedy as popular as Dumb and Dumber.
Sex Drive writers Sean Anders and John Morris wrote the screenplay for the Farrelly's to direct from. It's not clear yet if this casting departure will mean the end of this sequel or not.
Dumb and Dumber To comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels. The film is directed by Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly.

This is fragile territory anyways. If it works then great, but at the very least both actors need to come back, or it should end there. No one can replace Jim or Jeff. A few comments mentioned that Jim has been out of the limelight. That's not true. It's not likely Jim needs much work to stay happy these days, but Yes man was great and I look forward to Burt Wonderstone, not to mention all the small/Indy stuff he has done. Clearly Jim is in control.

Disappointing, but if the produceres weren't passionate enough about the project, then Jim Carrey did the right thing by leaving. Hopefully, the studio will either work more seriously on it and have Carrey return or they will abandon the project all together. No Jim Carrey (or Jeff Daniels for that matter), no Dumb and Dumber.

i kinda happy he has apparently left the project due to the fact i love the first one so much id hate to see a sequel be hated.. which is a likely thing to happen i think. on the other hand we'd all love to see those to guys again and what theyv been up too. its simply no jim carrey .. no dumb and dumber 2.
