Good reviews couldn't keep Drive on the road. According to Variety, Fox pulled the series over after only four episodes. Even though the show was generating very positive buzz, it failed miserably in the ratings.

Maybe it's the Nathan Fillion curse. You may remember that Fox also cancelled his show Firefly back in 2003. It too received good reviews and a pretty loyal fan base, yet stalled in the ratings.

Drive only averaged a 2.3 rating, with a 6 share among adults 18-49 Monday night. Basically 5.6 million viewers tuned in to watch this illegal cross-country road race. It did such a poor job of attracting its intended audience; it even caused 24's numbers to drop to an all time low.

Six episodes were produced in all, and Fox is still deciding whether it wants to show the last two on air, on line, or save them as extras on the impending DVD release (hey, they've got to make their cash back somehow).
