Drew Barrymore Has Been Cast in South of the Border

This project has been heating up for awhile. Now it finally has a lead actress. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Drew Barrymore will be lending her voice to Raja Gosnell's South of the Border.

The Walt Disney comedy revolves around a pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua that gets lost in Mexico. Other actors lending their voices to the film include Andy Garcia, Salma Hayek, George Lopez, Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez, Placido Domingo, Edward James Olmos and Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo.

Barrymore is playing the Chihuahua. Garcia is playing a German shepherd who was kicked off the police force because he lost his sense of smell and has now given up on life. Hayek is Chloe's spirit guide who helps her find her true heritage.

The film is currently in production.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua was released October 3rd, 2008 and stars Piper Perabo, Manolo Cardona, Jamie Lee Curtis, José María Yazpik, Maury Sterling, Jesús Ochoa, Eugenio Derbez, Omar Leyva. The film is directed by Raja Gosnell.
