Dredd Trailer

Following the 10-second trailer preview yesterday, we now have the first full trailer for Dredd, Lionsgate's upcoming reboot of the popular British comic book from director Pete Travis (which seems to be a remake of this year's earlier action fave The Raid: Redemption). Karl Urban stars as the title character. Watch as he lays down the law in Mega City One, climbing his way to the top of a very big building in hopes of killing the bad guy.

Dredd 3D was released September 21st, 2012 and stars Karl Urban, Rachel Wood, Andile Mngadi, Porteus Xandau Steenkamp, Jason Cope, Emma Breschi, Olivia Thirlby, Rakie Ayola. The film is directed by Pete Travis.

I was really hoping for judge death. If this is successful I reckon a trilogy might be on the cards, there's tons of back story of comics they can get sources from. Cross fingers in this cos it's been along time to get this happening. :)

Now thats more like it!! this will destroy the Stallone version.. seems closer to the comic from what i could see. Dredd keeps his helmet on... will catch this on the big screen for sure...

it's a shame the Stallone version didnt succeed the 1st time
I hope this brings the comic book character to new heights

Everything about this film looks stunning, Just like total recall , the cgi and s/f looks phenomenal, However, not having Stallone reprise his role is a bummer!
But i wont let that get in the way, This is a new era, new cast, new landscape, , but a diff cast and a diff story, So this should be good. (i hope)
Just remember "I AM THE LAW" belongs to Stallone! :)

@jasonkat He made it famous alright, in a bad way. Everyone hates that movie.

This trailer looks pretty better than I expected, tho the similarities to The Raid are striking.

@the-movieghost Agreed, that 3D title at the end took away everything that was good in the trailer.

If they can cast cage in ghost rider2, then why not cast Stallone in this reboot. of dredd.? this movie stands a 'stand alone" chance. but it cant beat the old movie. Stallone made this movie famous. lets hope this new guy can do the same. if not better

@narrator -- I believe the face-offs are all random, and to answer your question, c-a-r-t-m-a-n did. He's as bad as the people that rated the movie 5-stars without seeing it, if you ask me. On the other hand, the movie is more likely to succeed as a 5-star picture than a 0.5-star picture. Eh, they're still in the same boat.

  17. the Narrator

I like the cinematography and what they're TRYING to achieve with the city being a character in and of itself. However, this film is called Dredd for a reason, and I'm hoping it can deliver half of the things I'd like to see. Urban definitely has the chops to pull the roll off, but if the directing and writing suck then he has nothing to work with, really. The slow motion scenes and effects looked amazing for having a budget less than quarter above district 9 had, but nonetheless, effects don't make the film. My expectations as of now? To be entertained by the effects and the world they've created, and to actually enjoy the coarse and cheesy one-liners from Urban, as that'll likely be all he'll get.

Expectations vs Reality, and I'm going to see the film just to see which proves better.

Also, why the f*ck is TDKR being compared to the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street in face-off? Who the f*ck is giving TDKR 0.5 stars before it's even come out?!

Not bad, but helmet could've been a bit futuristic, looks like some weird biker helmet.

    11 months agoby @cupidFlag

  19. Superman81

This doesn't look good at all, say what you will about Stallone but his Judge Dredd was way better. If they had not cast Rob Schneider and made it a bit more serious it would have been way better. Urban just looks out of place and doesn't fit the helmet.

Wow the American remake of The Raid was made quick haha. But seriously, I don't know about this, could go either way.

@youngrizo -- I am giving it a "fair shake", trust me. I'll see the movie regardless of how it turns out.

  23. Nicholaus XX

@youngrizo -- How do you know my position, and who are you to question it? It's going to be(by the looks of it; pure speculation) entertaining, cheesy fun. But, it's definitely not going to be a groundbreaking, awe-inspiring sci-fi. Play close attention to the trailer, and you'll read that much.

Don't try to kiss his ass before seeing the movie, geez. On paper, he's probably what you mentioned, but here, he's some one-dimensional, eternal frowned, piece of wood. You're delusion has nothing to do with reality, as I can see.

I said it couldn't be the "300" of the sci-fi genre? But, all right.

Some more than others, some more noticeable than others. You insult people for prejudging, but you defend something you haven't even seen, and surround it with a universe of bullsh*t. How is that not hypocritical?

Please, oh please, tell me you're not comparing this brick to the Indiana Jones?

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx

I know your position cause you stated clearly "It's going to blow, but it's going to be hilarious!"

I'm not saying you're wrong, just that you're not giving it a fair shake. I'm not saying it'll be good, I've only pointed out my thoughts on some of the things people have shown concern at and I didn't say it'll be great or even good, but that I'll find out once I see it
