Dredd 3D 'Slo-Mo' Featurette
Lionsgate has released a new featurette for Dredd 3D, director Pete Travis' upcoming adaptation of the popular comic book series. Karl Urban stars as the title character, who tries to get rid of a dangerous new drug called Slo-Mo, which is being distributed by Lena Headey's Ma-Ma Madrigal. The drug makes users experience life at a fraction of its normal speed. Achieving the effects of this drug for the silver screen requires shooting with an incredibly fast frame rate, upwards of 4,000 frames per second, as opposed to the industry standard 24 FPS. Take a look at this video where Karl Urban, screenwriter Alex Garland, and several other crew members discuss what it takes to give viewers the ultimate Slo-Mo experience.
Dredd 3D was released September 21st, 2012 and stars Karl Urban, Rachel Wood, Andile Mngadi, Porteus Xandau Steenkamp, Jason Cope, Emma Breschi, Olivia Thirlby, Rakie Ayola. The film is directed by Pete Travis.

I can see what he's talking about with the depth of the layers of blood. That's going to look incredible like you're there especially if it's filmed at such a high rate. I might actually go to the theater to see it.

@rufio This reminds me a LOT more of the comic its based on than a Stalone impersonation. I doubt this will find a large audience with anyone who was not a fan of the comic though, and WAS a fan of the Stalone crapfest.

Did not impress me or stand out as a great effect for this movie.

gotta say though... that slo-mo piece and effect looks pretty sweet.

my biggest issue with this movie is actually two-fold: (1) it seems more like a remake than reboot, (2) Urban's portrayal of dredd seems like a stallone impression more than a fresh take on the title character.
not to say it won't be good, but that it doesn't stand out. may watch it on bluray... but will wait to see the feeback.
