DreamWorks to Remake Fright Night

Fright Night Remake
Fright Night Remake
In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks will be remaking Fright Night.

The movie is being produced by Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films. Michael De Luca is also producing.

Mark Sourian, DreamWorks co-president of production, is overseeing this project for DreamWorks.

The original Fright Night was written and directed by Tom Holland in 1985. That film was a horror comedy about a teenager who realizes that his neighbors are vampires.

No writer has currently been picked but the idea is to keep the tone of the original.

Why does Hollywood remake EVERYTHING. Fright Night, Elm Street, they aren't that old and we all still remember them. Get original Hollywood. Or just make Fright Night 3, but call it Fright Night: The Rebirth or something corny.

And I agree with a previous poster, Shia Labeuf as Brewster, ugh. He probably will be too big for this kind of movie though.

This is such a dumb idea. For one thing, the central premise doesn't work. In the early 80's, having a horror host trying to save his series works. In 2009 there aren't any horror hosts left on TV. And if there were any, they didn't star in a bunch of vampire hunting movies in their earlier days. This is a film that will only be watchable with a severe infusion of alcohol, mark my words.

fright night is/was a masterpiece of campy 80's horror.

i'm past getting all excited or angry when a remake is announced though, at this point i don't seem to care anymore.
i just hope they don't ruin it.

Ok, plz do not tell me you guys still believe that Zack Synder is rebooting Star Wars episode 4, 5 & 6.
Let alone fathom the knowledge you can't make 5 better than what it is. Also try and figure out that the news that regarded that George Lucas asked Synder to reboot Star Wars was released on April 1st by IGN.
Whom lets not forgoet last year April Fooled the f*cking world with an awesome Zelda Trailer.

And to this article i say wtf and how can you remake a classic like this i smell PG all over this.

remaking crap like this is actually ok. I wouldn't call fright night anything special. And for a comedy with Sfxs this might be ok.

Either way, they really should stop with the remakes!

I like remakes. Oftentimes they are better than the original because they have better technology. This is why George Lucas is having Zach Snyder helm the new Star Wars reboot.
