The ninth season of ABC's hit show Dancing with the Stars promises to be a weird, wild ride. According to Variety, a new cast of fifteen celebrities has been chosen, and there are quite a few surprises this time out. And some quite obvious choices, also.

Headlining the new season will be singer/dancer Donny Osmond, who seems a perfect fit for the high-energy dance show. Other not-so-strange additions this year include Mya, Macy Gray, and Aaron Carter. The two contestants that stick out like a sore thumb are Kelly Osbourne and Former Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay. The rest of the fifteen includes actresses Melissa Joan Hart, Debi Mazar and Ashley Hamilton, models Joanna Krupa and Kathy Ireland, Mark Dacascos (otherwise known as "The Chairman" on Food Network's Iron Chef America: The Series), mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell, professional snowboarder Louie Vito, Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin, and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin. Host Tom Bergeron announced the new cast this morning via Good Morning America.

Bergeron also announced a new twist to the competition, stating, "In the middle of our season, over three weeks, we're going to have double eliminations. We'll lose about half of our cast within that period. It will be a ballroom bloodbath."

Samantha Harris is set to return as co-host, with a panel of judges that includes ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer-choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Look for the ninth season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars to premiere on September 21st.
