Django Unchained official synopsis revealed
To be released on Christmas day, we now have the official synopsis for Quentin Tarantino's Western, Django Unchained.

"Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles - dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South's most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival..."

    If it's anything like Basterds I will continue to not entirely hate QT.

    @2movieguys -- I doubt Quentin Tarantino wouldn't let that happen.

    @bawnian-dexeus -- Will do.

    @thedude-abides -- I like the sound of that.

    @mbrandon11 -- He's not. I'd consider him a little above-average as far as acting goes. Maybe "Ray", along with "Django Unchained" can change my mind?

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx From what I can tell from the script, the role of Django is very subdued. He doesn't say much, and when he does speak, he speaks like he's afraid to talk (as though he needs permission). In other words, it'll be more of an internalized performance than an animated one. I'm sure he'll be able to snuff it :)

    @daveactor7 -- I have seen "Collateral", and his acting was average. Not only that, but his character was extremely dis-likable , and made the most stupid decisions that didn't make any darn sense(horror movie cliches in a drama?).

    Albeit, the whole movie was messed up. Tom Cruise managed to make the character he played a semi-bad-ass, but that title collapsed at the end. He let(literally) a stupid, incompetent man kill him, maybe because he loved black people? There's no way - realistically - that he could've just killed him like that. Ridiculous!

    I haven't seen "Ray", however.

    @thedude-abides -- Ha, yeah, he's annoying both onscreen and off. I personally think Michael Kenneth Williams would've been the most qualified for the role. Yeah, Will Smith is very odd in the roles he chooses. You're partially(mostly) right. I think his comedic persona is overshadowing my perspective of him in a serious role(this one). Albeit, he wasn't bad in "The Soloist". I find him to be an alright actor, at best.

    Who knows, maybe he can shine in this role? There's a big chance that he might, since Quentin Tarantino is in helm. I wasn't a fan of some of the actors/actresses in "Inglourious Basterds"(Eli Roth) and "Kill Bill", but I winded up being pleasantly surprised in both cases.

    Long time no speak, @daveactor7. Lol. I agree, but I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx is speaking about Foxx in a public sense rather than a professional one. He is rather annoying to a lot of people :)

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Agreed. I can't stand Jamie Foxx either, but after reading the script, I think he's more than fit for the role.

    You're right, however; Denzel or Idris Elba would've been better choices. It's too bad 'Zel and Quentin don't exactly get along, and Elba passed up on the role of his life for fear of the racial backlash that is sure to ensue as a result.

    Will Smith, on the other hand, I could care less about. His career as we knew it is over. Sure, it would'a been cool to see him int this, but an actor's only as good as the career choices he makes, and Smith's made the two worst career choices in film history: The Matrix for Wild Wild West, and Django for After Earth.
