Django Unchained Brings Back Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill joins Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained
Jonah Hill joins Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained
Director Quentin Tarantino's Western Django Unchained has been shooting since mid-January, but it's never too late to add a new cast member. Oscar-nominated actor Jonah Hill has signed on to portray an unspecified character.

The actor had been in talks last year to play Scotty Harmony, who loses Django's wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) to plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). He was forced to drop out due to scheduling issues, but now he's back in another role. Ironically, we reported last month that Sacha Baron Cohen departed from the project, after signing on to play Scotty back in November.

Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a freed slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) to reunite with his wife. Quentin Tarantino is directing from his own original screenplay.

Django Unchained was released December 25th, 2012 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, Amber Tamblyn, Zoe Bell. The film is directed by Quentin Tarantino.

    @SherlockHolmes2009 -- Which part? :)

    @felipe-11 -- Like I said, he'll make it work. Regardless, I'm just not a fan of Jonah Hill, and I find him to be a miscast. I'll just watch as Tarantino proves me wrong.

    @thedude-abides@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx You're forgetting Brad Pitt's anti-Nazi team in Inglorious Basterds was composed almost entirely by jewish comedians.

    Tarantino knows what he's doing.

    I can't believe some of y'all are complaining about Jonah, he's a very good actor, not only is he good a comedy, but he can act, y'all forgot the man got nominated for a best supporting actor nod. The one thing they we should all know fron Quentin is that, he knows how to cast a movie and gets great performances from everyone who works with him. One of Quentin many great brands isn't just violence its also humor, so Jonah fits right end.

    I've grown to tolerate and even like Hill a little. I think he'll be fine being directed by a master at his craft.

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Yeah, may be. I guess it depends on the nature of the character. Either way, it seems like it'll be a small role given how late into production he's been cast. Hopefully it works out for the best.

    @thedude-abides -- Yeah, same here. I honestly don't want to see Jonah Hill in a Tarantino film, but I've felt the same exact way about two actresses in Kill Bill(Lucy Liu and Vivica A. Fox), only to be pleasantly surprised.

    Jonah Hill is not a bad actor, I just find him to be a total miscast in this one.

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Lol. Much like in the way he casts his friends often to the detriment of his films, he definitely lets his own fandom get the better of him in his decision making at times. All the same, while this does appear to be a very indulgent move on Tarantino's part, I trust qt in any decision he makes, no matter how much I may not understand it at the time.

    Your thoughts on the latest casting decision (besides it being stupid of course, lol)?

    Great, I just wonder who he is playing though since he won't be playing Scotty Harmony as originally sought for. Well the Weinsteins did say that more actors could still join, I wanna know who's going to replace Kurt Russell as Ace Woody. Also too bad Will Smith schedule was to full for Django Unchained, anyways Jamie still looks awesome.
