Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds Are Part of a Trilogy Says Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino reveals Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds may be connected
When you look at Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, set in World War II, and his latest film Django Unchained, set before the Civil War, one may not think they are connected. However, the director dropped an intriguing tidbit in a recent interview, where he believes they are both a part of the same trilogy.

"I don't know, Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained bespeak a trilogy. As different as they are, there is a companion piece quality. There might very well be a third one. I just don't know what it is yet."

Since both Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained are period pieces, it makes one wonder which period the filmmaker will tackle next. The Industrial Revolution? The Vietnam War? It will also be interesting to see if Christoph Waltz pops up in the third film, since he has starred in the first two. We'll keep you posted if any further details come through regarding this unorthodox "trilogy."

Inglourious Basterds was released August 21st, 2009 and stars Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger. The film is directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Django Unchained was released December 25th, 2012 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, Amber Tamblyn, Zoe Bell. The film is directed by Quentin Tarantino.

@mr-eighty8 and I said as much upon viewing the first trailer. Looks basically the same as Inglourious Basterds, which had many western tropes throughout as well. So much so, that as a joke between us, we've dubbed Unchained as, "Inglourious Django."

Couple that with the fact that QT recently revealed that one of the characters from his previous films would be making an appearance in Django Unchained, which, given the time period, I have surmised as possibly being a young Aldo (makes sense given he's from the South and Django will take place in the South), and one can see how these two films are connected. One more film would be a cool way to top it off.

I could imagine him making a fictional story based in the time of the Viatnem War. Also I heard that he was going to make Kill Bill Volume 3 for a 2014 release date. Quentin stated he wanted 10 years to go by so by then beatrix's daughter BiBi would be older, I think a part of the story may involve her being trained how to be an Assassin, but thats my guess. Oh yeah, a Gangster movie set in the early 1900s would be perfect for Quentin to make.

Does anyone know if he's still going to do Kill Bill Vol 3? Anyways, I read somewhere that he's thought of one day doing a gangster movie around the time Pretty Boy Floyd was around. Could be that.

Actually, that would be a grand idea/turn of events if you think about. Kind of like Rodriguez's Mexico Trilogy
