That's probably not the case, though. Shipping crates arrived late last night at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim teasing a secret project titled Star Wars: Orange Harvest. The crates were found in the Imagineering pavilion, sent in care of Walt Disney Imagineering. And they were marked with references to lightsabers, protocol droids, Blue Milk, C3PO and more. One crate even had a broken and burnt slate that looked as though R2D2 himself had busted out of it. Another crate made reference to Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, the Cantina band from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
These crates have sent many into speculation overdrive, which is the point, with one box cleverly marked, "Speculation beyond Imagination." The mystery won't be solved or revealed until tomorrow, but for now, we're pretty sure Orange Harvest is in reference to a new theme park ride or attraction coming to Disney Parks sometime in the near future (Both Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney World in Orlando reside in Orange County).
It is rumored that the parks are planning a 20-minute original 3D movie that will replace Captain EO, new destinations for Star Tours based on Star Wars: Episode VII, a refurbished Space Mountain tied into the 2015 release of the movie, and a Speeder Bike coaster that will simulate a chase through the forest moon of Endor, which will sit atop the old People Mover track.
Could this all be tied into Star Wars: Episode VII? We'll have to wait and see.
Take a look at the photos from D23.
