Disney to release Platinum Edition Peter Pan in March 2007
According to Home Media Retailing, the Mouse House's next title to enter that elite club will be Peter Pan in March 2007.
Based upon Sir James M. Barrie's 1904 play about the boy who refuses to grow up, this film begins in the London nursery of Wendy, John and Michael Darling. The three children are visited by Peter Pan, the boy who refuses to grow up. With the help of his tiny friend, the fairy Tinkerbell, Peter takes the three children on a magical flight to Never Land. This enchanted island is home to Peter, Tink, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her Indian tribe, and the scheming Captain Hook who is as intent on defeating Peter Pan as he is from escaping the ticktocking crocodile that once bit off the pirate's hand.
According to HMR, the title has received an "extensive digital restoration and features a new 5.1 home theater mix."
DVD Features:
- Two-disc edition include a never-before-seen alternate opening set in Neverland rather than the Darling family's home
- Three new multi-level games
- A deleted song
- An interview with Walt Disney on why he made Peter Pan
- Making-of documentary
- Storybook
- A preview of the new Tinker Bell movie
This disc will sell for $29.99.
